This is an Advanced Reading Copy.  This World We Live In takes up where Life As We Knew It and The Dead and the Gone left off. Alex and Julie from The Dead and the Gone meet up with Miranda’s father and his wife and new baby. They all come home to be with Miranda and her mom and two brothers. Life is still hard. The family is still struggling to survive. There are still things that they can salvage out of houses around the community and also the boys are able to go fish and bring back some much needed protein for the family.  Miranda is still kind of whiney. You would think after all that they have been through that she would have gotten over her selfish ways. But there is still self-centeredness that kind of gets annoying. When Alex shows up she goes from being jealous of him, to feeling sorry for him to thinking that she is in love with him. By the end of the book she does seem to gain some maturity. Not my favorite book out of the 3 but I did like to read more of Miranda and Alex’s story. There is enough excitement in the book to keep the pages turning.

Yes, we do find out some of her story(eventually)but it just isn’t the same. BUT~I got caught up in this story. It is exciting, tense, nerve-wracking! What keeps me from giving it 5 stars is the ending.
